The third lockdown

Now we're in this 3rd lockdown in the uk, i do hope that we all follow the rules, i was only saying to the wife the other day about all the thousands of people with covid but where are they, we've not seen or heard of any locally, then all of a sudden, our daughter knows two famalies who have it & my sister's next door neighbour has it, & then their relatives who visited them at xmas for ONE day, now all of them have to isolate, God knows what it would have been like with 5 days at xmas. I don't think people realise how important it is to steer clear of this thing, it's certainly brought it home to us to behave & stay at home. I'm letting off steam on here because Twitter attracts some strange people sometimes, so i tend to just comment on tv or less serious topics.

Anyhow if anyone has landed on here thanks, I would love you to leave a comment, i enjoy a nice discussion now & then.

Confused messages about Christmas 2020

On my youtube channel i try to explain that if you are allowed to do something, it doesn't mean to say that you have to do it, just a case of using you're noddle & keeping safe, do & meet the minimum of households & do not travel from a 3tier to a lesser tier,= common sense, take a look at the video, it's only 2 mins long.

enjoy, would be nice for a subscribe & a like, as i'm just trying to get my channel off the ground

 thanks in anticipation.

The sz11x cheap rc car

As I said in the video on my youtube channel, it is quite a flyer, great for kids young or old to enjoy, & if you want to really get into the hobby it's a good place to start before you spend a lot of money. apologies for the mobius footage, as I don't have any tarmac or smoother area to race.

link to view on my yt channel : https://youtu.be/63gYE3PzXTY take a look & enjoy.

Double E rc Rock crawler

This is an update on the rock crawler i reviewed  on the 15/3/20, as you can see I'm experimenting with cameras on it, but at this time I am awaiting batteries as the one I have doesn't seem to want to charge as it's not been used for a while.

Update: the 4x4 decided to acquire a connection fault somewhere, but so far having stripped it down, I still haven’t found anything, so cannot try the 2D gimbal yet, so I’ll keep at it. I have tried the camera on top as in the pic, on the dampener & foam, but it’s worse than the mobius was on the front bonnet.

More to follow.

I have an sjcam on top with some dampening, & a mobius low down on the front.

But for something which probable will work I'm toying with the idea of putting the D2 gimbal off my old Cx20 drone onto a frame to hang at the front, & when I've managed it I'll post it on my youtube channel, should be fun!!
UPDATE: Didn't bother with gimbal off cx20 as i bought the gopro hero7 with it's own stabilisation.

A different take on the Fimi Palm

If you've come here from my youtube channel, may i say welcome, as i said the little 3 axis gimbal  fimi Palm I think is a brilliant concept in photo stabilisation, but from the time i had it in my hand, it's also a very delicate bit of gear. I still keep looking at it on youtube to see what others are saying about it, there's lots of positive reviews but there are also some who seem a bit wary like me, so watch this space.

More to follow.

Three Fucias

Looking round our garden these three fucia bushes caught my eye. Two of them are small container bushes, while the middle one is in the ground  and grows quite large, but they are all different and i have googled for the names but finding it very difficult to find the exact name of each.

The top one looks a bit like  fucia snowdrop.
The middle one looks like shrimp cocktail or lady thumb.
The bottom pic i think could be tom thumb but i wouldn't like to put money on any of them, as there are so many, but if anyone can throw some light on the subject please feel free in the comments or tweet me.

Hello Mr. Hedgehog

Yes, our first visit from  a hedgehog since the late icy spring a few years ago. We used to see them every night in the summer wandering the grounds at dusk, sorry sounds posh, but we live in sheltered housing, the wife was manager & i was gardener/cleaner, so i was very much aware & interested in the nature & surrounding area. They used to come into our own private garden to drink at our pond, which went & became a lawn , so it was quite a surprise when we saw one the other night, I'm so glad they are around again.

and here is another shot
the lens kit I purchased from Amazon in 2016, it was the Lieqi  comprising  a 0.4x super wide lens
plus an 180 degree fish eye lens plus a 10x Macro lens.

Radio Caroline

sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of Ronan O'Rahilly the creator of radio caroline. He started a pop radio revolution making millions happy & to my mind pop radio has never been the same since, thanks for the wonderful memories.

I know we had to retune all the time as it kept fading out, but that was part of the experience to me, dab radio didn't exist then, cassette recorders were only just being invented. I'll add a few more memories later.

Just Reminiscing

Heard the song “the lion sleeps tonight” on tv other day & it  took me back to the year of 1961 when the original came out by the Tokens.
I remember it well, I was about 16 living in Burnley with my parents, & usually I was first up & would immediately put the radio on as I was well into music then, as I’d started playing sax at 9years old, & as there were no pirate radio stations then or radio1, I always listened to the German (or Danish) version of radio Luxembourg which played all the latest pop, the English radio lux was of course transmitting in the evenings.
I remember it was winter & whilst I had a portable electric fire on, if I had time I would light the coal fire with a ‘blower’ a piece of metal with a handle.on it over which you placed a large sheet  of newspaper to force the draft up the chimney to get the fire roaring, which sometimes catches on fire sending smoke in the living room. & sparks shooting out of the chimney, ah what memories, no health & safety in those days!!!
That was before portable radios, tape decks & whatever were invented, in fact I don’t think we had a fridge then either, because I recollect going to a girlfriends house where her mum gave me some crumbly cheese out of their fridge, I loved it & consequently told my mum when I got home, begging for us to get one. We did have a square black & white tv though.
Well there you go, all that info from just hearing a song on a tv add.
This particular song seems to have cropped up in my life a few times as in the post below from 2010, regarding radio Luxembourg.

Tuesday 21 January 2020

quick update it's now 2020!!!!

At last I'm up & running again, well what a mild winter, or should i say an extended autumn, bulbs are showing through, buds shooting out here & there, cyclemen looking its usual best at this time of year, glad i haven't still got the pond, or the frogs would be going berserk now, & then when or if we do get some cold , probably at easter the frogspawn would be knackered.

Cold weather

It's now end of May & low temp to last until next weekend. Bedding plants read to go in outside but dare not risk. Saw 23 degrees on bbc weather app for next Tuesday, now revised to 19, but still much better than this!! Heatwave on its way--- yes?
First aerial pic of our place using syma x8  quadcopter with a Mobius cam. This still taken off video as the x8 cannot lift a gimbal safely for more than a couple of minutes, hence the footage follows every wobble the craft makes.
